Cell Processing Unit (Tissue Bank)

The Cell Processing Unit at St. Anna CCRI is a specialised tissue bank dedicated to the processing of donor stem cells and the provision of high-quality cellular products for patient treatment. Working in close collaboration with the Transplantation Unit of St. Anna Children’s Hospital, the unit supports modern, evidence-based medicine by ensuring reliable access to carefully processed and well-characterised cellular products.

Our Approach

Our work connects clinical care with translational research. Using established and validated processing methods tailored to specific clinical needs, we help ensure that cellular therapies can be utilized safely and effectively in a clinical setting. The Cell Processing Unit therefore serves as an important interface between medical care and research.

Quality, Safety and Responsibility

Patient safety, product integrity and regulatory compliance are at the core of our activities. All processing steps are performed in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles, following clearly defined quality and safety standards and in full compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory requirements for tissue establishments and cellular product processing. Through strict quality management systems, highly trained staff and continuous optimization of our procedures, we ensure consistent quality, full traceability and responsible handling of stem cells and cellular products at every stage—from processing and testing to storage and release.

Services
  • Cryopreservation and storage of autologous and allogeneic stem cells
  • Cryopreservation of mononuclear cells (MNC) for further processing into cell therapeutics
  • Manufacturing of donor lymphocyte infusions (DLI)
  • Stem cell selection using magnetic cell separation (TCR alpha/beta and CD19 depletion, CD3 and CD19 depletion, CD34 positive selection)
